Life Lately: Abuja 6

Quote of the Day: Ask and it will be give unto you, see and you will find.-Matthew 7:7.

Hi guys welcome to my blog!
I'm so excited about today's post (I don't know why). The previous week was a roller coaster filled amazing moments for me. I'm thankful to God that I keep learning and growing.
I fell very ill after the heavy storm that caught up with us during our NYSC biometrics registration, but thank God I am much better.
On Tuesday, I wasn't feeling up to it, but o knew I had to attend the Fashion Focus event held at the British Council courtesy of the Lagos Fashion and Design Week. I got there at 2:26pm because the event was slated to start at 2:30 pm but ended up starting at 3:39 pm; talk about african time. Shortly after, the organisers apologised and it kicked off.

Let me state that I learnt a lot from Mrs Omoyemi Akerele aka StyleHouseFiles and I am grateful I didn't miss George Okoro's talk. They both inspire me, a lot!

Mrs Akerele and Me. I got to have a little chat with her. This woman right here has a good heart, plus she's a believer of Jesus Christ. Oops! Forgot to mention that she's also a lawyer. She ditched law for fashion. She's living the life of her dreams!

You'd definitely be seeing a lot of changes here on the blog,as I will put what I learnt from that event to practice.

I had a little issue with what to wear for the event in the morning, so I asked God. Me and God have the weirdest conversations.
Me: God I'm ill,and I don't know what to wear please help me. I need something to heat me up and not look like a stuffed animal.
God: Bring out that bright red sweater from your box and match it with your blue gown. Red and blue go... You can wear tights to keep your legs warm.
Me: Wonderful! It'll give the illusion of a red sweater and a blue skirt. Thank you.
I met some amazing people; one of them took these amazing photos(I wished I brought my tripod stand, you will never know the struggle for good lighting).

2 weeks ago I treated myself to some TLC after Mass.

My friends at the office found this nice spot to eat without breaking the bank at Maitama, so I joined them. The food there is lit!! The camera couldn't get the others, next time though.
Yesterday, out of boredom I made Nigerian Zobo.
That's today's post guys. Thank you for visiting.
xoxo,
Alexandra.

Happy New Month! Guess Whose Birthday It Was

Quote of the Day: See you a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men- Proverbs 22:29.

Hi guys! Due to the span of time between my last post here and this one, if you call me lazy in blogging this one time, I will not clap back. I have wanted to do this post for a long time now...and things keep getting in the way.

As you have noticed from our blog banner, I changed the posting days to Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays as opposed to our July routine as seen here. The exact posting time is 2 pm. So yes, by God's grace if you come here at 2 pm on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, you will see a new post. Subscribe to my mailing list so that you don't forget.

I meant it when I said I was going to take this blogging thing very seriously. I am grateful for the support you keep showing me on social media, thank you.

Your constant visits to this blog has not gone unnoticed as seen in this screenshot I took while analyzing my blog analytic, over 10,000 views in one month! My mind was totally blown away. Today I even saw new visitors from Latvia, and our Polish friends have returned as well.

Abuja Life Lately 5: Taking Stock

Quote of the day: Don't worry if plan A fails, there are 25 more letters in the alphabet- Anonymous.

Hi guys! Good evening :) I trust your weekend is going well. I finally got better, thus this post(the doctor said something about a vitamin deficiency). Y'all probably thought I pulled a now you see me, now you don't stunt on you again.
My life constantly evolving for the best, and I'm adapting quicker than I ever imagined I would.
I've decided to keep this post here as a reminder that I'm human, and things do happen.
Before we continue, I want to say a big thank you to Blogaratti and Gail for checking up on me.

Saturdays are for taking stock. Remember the first one? Ha! If you haven't seen it, you can read up here.

I am:
Learning: to apply the "if they don't know you personally, don't take it personal" mantra.

Embracing: my new office. I got redeployed to the legal unit of my office, how great is my God! I'm finally doing something I studied in school.

Decided: to stop judging myself harshly.

Learnt: in God's time, he makes everything perfect, and beautiful.

Back to: binge watching cartoons. It's so bad, I watch Disney Junior. Come through Sophia the First, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Calimero and Doc Mcstuffins (I even sing along). Hahaha my future children are in for it! *InsertHandinFaceEmoji*

Still Loving: "the Dressmaker" movie. Kate Winslet and the other cast nailed it. I love it because I can totally relate to being picked upon, and falsely accused of something I had no hand in, before God vindicated me.

Happy: @lilyofnigeria has picked up.

Grateful: for all the love and support you all keep showing.

Listening: to songs from my Spirit Album. Courtesy of Nathaniel Bassey's Jesus Christ inspired HallelujahChallenge.

Drinking: my homemade Ginger and Green Tea(your girl has indigestion yo).

Wanting: to travel to Panya, aka Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.

Needing: a high tech functional tablet.

Looking: for my timetable and vitamin B supplement.

Missing: my Mommy.

Loving: the thought of exploring Nigeria as a tourist.

Knowing: that forgiving one girl that shamelessly bullied me in High School was the best thing to do.
Reading: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights(UDHR) adopted by the UN General Assembly on the 10th day of December 1948.

Hoping: to learn how to use Snapseed.

Praying: for Lagosians living on the Island and waterlogged areas. May God come to your aid (I heard it's been raining non stop for more than 7 days).

Can't Wait: to go for Mass tomorrow.

About: to call it a night.

That's it for today guys, thanks for stopping by and reading. This photo was taken and edited by me on my last trip to Lagos(I know right, Nigeria can be photogenic when she wants to).

Keep trying to be the change you seek. Keep learning new ways to positively impact the lives around you,and you. Keep doing what you want to be remembered for.  By God's grace, I'll see you in my next post on Monday.

Wishing you happiness, and God's love,
Your Friend Alexandra.

Happy New Month: Blog Goals

Welcome guys! It's been a while since I posted here. Happy New Month! It's another opportunity to right all wrongs and take chances; I hope June was good to you.
If you follow me on instagram here you already knew about this post before hand.
I've been busy with a lot of things behind the scenes.
How have you been? It's been a while o...

So, my people, what goals do you have planned out for the month of July?
As for me,I've decided to take my blog/brand serious, (with God's help).
:) At the moment, as much as I want to,I won't be able to post everyday. Here are some of the goals I hope to achieve for Lily  of  Nigeria this July:

I'll be posting four times a week. On Mondays,Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I figured I need to put in my best into this. What do I have to loose?
In Jesus name, I will blog to the "fullest maximum",can I get an Amen somebody?

•On instagram,I'd be posting everyday so be sure to check out my posts. Shebi we're friends, you can follow my account @lilyofnigeria

Focus the blog on Fashion + Beauty + Reviews and Life. Each topic has a particular day(you'd have to find out which one falls on which day).

• Not to bite more than I can chew, to focus and achieve(basically point and nail my goals). Brand Mantra: Consistency, quality over quantity.

Relaunch my YouTube Channel sometime in the month.

• To slay the procrastination that had held me down.

• I'm not going to ignore the fact that some people aren't creative, and go about shamelessly copying pasting other peoples ideas and published work without giving back credit! Henceforth, I will call them out, without pettiness of course.

In other News, we have crossed the 50,000 views threshold. As a matter of fact, we're headed to 55,000! Thank you all so much. I appreciate ALL your support
Even on Facebook we have 120 likes on the page, if you haven't been there before, you can click here

Just before we call it a day, Biko, have y'all seen this expensive post on Instagram?

What are your thoughts? My jaw literally dropped to the ground. Haba Nigerians...!

I wish you a successful July, filled with laughter and joy. By God's grace, I'll see you in my post on Monday.

Love and Peace,
Alexandra.

Life Lately: Taking Stock 4

Hello my Loves! I've missed you so much. I stopped Taking Stock/Diary on a daily basis because,I had a slight anxiety that perhaps I might be giving out too much info and might be crossing the privacy/blogger line. And, majorly because I felt that who in the World will come here everyday to read how you spent your day?
Well, I was wrong, at least that's what my stats on those previous posts state. Thank you for your support even if most of you prefer to come and see what's new here, read, and go without commenting. Just so you know, we have since passed the 25,000 views(and counting) benchmark, and iBlogWithGrace has over 47,000 and counting. All organic views, ha! We are growing y'all. Indeed, God is great!
Special Shout to one you I met the other day, Chimamaka.

Feeling: Like a Million bucks! Today's Word was lit!

Changing: Some things here on the blog.

Went to: The Throne Room today.

Still Marvelling: At how God put me at a strategic place to receive his go ahead, and how he saved my bu** from a hot big pot of Zobo.

Wanting to: Make a difference in the World.

Thinking of: Volunteering for humanitarian causes dear to my heart.

Wishing: The Attendance at Tomorrow's CDS will be hassle free.

Currently Reading: The Blessing of the LORD by Kenneth Copeland.

Needing: An affordable photographer that knows their onions well.

Just Finished: Making Zobo for the week. You can place an order for yours by calling 08156331088.

Cut down on: My long strolls on Instagram. I use that time for other things(like sleeping/lounging) now.

Started: Skipping again.

Just Ate: Some Lettuce.

Still: Loosing weight! -12 KG and counting, my God is faithful. If you know someone that's still struggling to loose weight tell them to email me.

Learnt to: Appreciate weekends more, since I started working in this town. Last week, I was literally dragged out of my house for a party, reunion I thank God I went for. Guys,if you read this, we need to hang out again.

Wanting: to get to Lagos, and literally stab the new tailor I was introduced to in the eye with a fork. Dude has held my material and money hostage for one month and some days now. He promised 2 weeks! If only I listened to my guts and stuck to my tailor. You will understand my predicament if you have ever encountered a Nigerian no-show Tailor.

Happy: I discovered Castor Oil is not good for my hair. I'll tell you all about it in my next post, and tips for your relaxed hair. So, you better subscribe below in order not to miss out.

Listening to: To Leave Something Behind by Sean Rowe. To say I love this song is an understatement. If you've watched The Accountant You'd be in the Know. Nope,I'm not giving any spoilers.

Perfecting: The Art of Snapchat. Let's be friends, add me by searching for  lilyofonigeria

Saying Goodbye to: Thin Tall Tony who was evicted to night from the Big Brother Naija House.

Want more? Check out Our Facebook Page and Like it, Please :)

My Take on Debonair Pizza Ikoyi: A Review

How are you doing today? What do you think of that new Coca Cola advert that leaves you wondering who's thirstier, the cashier or the young man.

Sometime ago, I stopped by the new Debonair's Pizza shop at Mobil Filing station on Awolowo Road Ikoyi just before Falomo. I was pretty much impressed by it's neatness. And,just in case you were wondering what the interiors look like,I have pictures, yaay :)

Before you continue reading,it will mean the world to me if you liked our Facebook Page just click here

Prior to their launch last year, my friends and I had waited days without end. Until a week or so after the Bar results were released; and by then we had ended our internship programme,so no group pizza :(

The staff there are bubbly fellows and while I wish  Debonair's will place chairs for their waiting customers so they don't keep us(customers) standing like stranded tourists or in your car inhaling the strong odour of petrol/fuel before the order arrives.

At Debonair's they serve wings, drinks, water, a variety of pizza which includes their signature triple decker pizza of course, ice cream that hasn't manifested since they opened their doors the first time, mind you the machine is there alongside promises of it the next time you come.

I honestly enjoyed their customer service a lot, and the pizza was worth the wait. If you live in Ikoyi they deliver, and if it's on Awolowo Road it's free and super fast.
Keep in touch with by following me on Instagram and Twitter We post regularly on these social mediums.

Have a beautiful week,
Love and Peace,
Your friend Alexandra.

Taking Stock: Life Lately 2

I saw this on someone's blog the other day(I can't place my finger on the link in particular),and thought it would make a good read here on lily of Nigeria. And, just maybe, you'll be moved to share yours with me as well.

Went to: the Ecumenical/National Christian Church today after my NYSC CDS,while cruising from Area 10 to the Central Area with my leggedis-Benz. At first, a King’s Guard refused me entry into the main church. As I was leaving, a kind Police man walked me back, and into the church and told me not to mind the man. You call it luck,I call it favour. At first,I was shocked because prior to this experience,I didn’t know there was ever a church where people were denied entrance to speak with God.
https://www.lilyofnigeria.com.ng
Dug deep: into instagram algorithms and why some people get many likes, and others don’t.

Wondered: if the Dwarves from the Lord of the Rings are really dwarves in real life.

Said a Prayer: for Lord Saruman's Widow in real life(Birgit Krøncke Lee). I hope she’s faring well,God be with her.

So Badly: want to run a Master’s Programme in either King’s College London, or, Queen Mary University London. But, I guess that’s a bit…anyway God can do anything yeah? I’ll have to wait and see.

Still Marvelling: Over the fact that miracles happen everyday, and God repaired my phone for me. Hian,if you haven’t read what happened, hurry and read all about it here.

Thought of: how cute Thorin and the Lord of the Elves are.

Embracing: Alexandra for whom she is.

Ate: the English veggie sauce I made yesterday with white rice. And,I had some oranges..

Drank: the Zobo drink I made the other day.

That's today's post post guys. How is your day going? Tell me all about it,and if you're okay,we could discuss in the comment section below. See you tomorrow in my next post by God's grace. Don't forget to bookmark this blog, and tell all your friends and family about it :)
